The Clarius scanners are designed for exams that last about 10-15 minutes. If you use the scanner continuously for 15 to 20 minutes, you will notice that the scanner case heats up. This is absolutely normal as Clarius is designed to efficiently dissipate heat to enhance the durability of its electronics, without using an internal fan. It is similar to your smart phone, which heats up after a long phone call or when you use an app such as maps for an extended period of time.
The Clarius scanner has built-in temperature sensors that alerts the app when it becomes too hot. A message will display in the App to inform you that it will shut down in 30 seconds as a safety precaution.
If you are in a situation where you need Clarius to cool down quickly, some common techniques to try would be placing the scanner on a cold surface or placing it under cold water.
We are continuously working to improve optimization and power consumption, so it is possible that software updates will help reduce power consumption and heat. The scanner shuts down automatically when it is not in use, and operates in low-power when it is not scanning. Manually freezing the image when not imaging, and turning off the scanner from the scanner page when you are finished scanning allow the scanner to go to sleep faster, hence reduce heating.
In addition, using the Clarius Fan or Power Saving Mode will allow for increase scanning time while dissipating heat.

In constant scanning situations, such as workshops and training courses, we recommend alternating between two separate scanners.
