Heart rate measurements can be made through various means using the Clarius App. There are 3 main methods: Automated heart-rate, M-Mode measurements, and Pulsed Wave Doppler measurements.
Automated Heart Rate
For Clarius scanners with a cardiac application (currently C3 and PA), the automated heart rate feature can be enabled with the proper software license. If licensed, the automated heart rate measurement can be toggled on and off through the Modes menu. Once scanning is started, the anatomical position should be held for approximately 5 seconds for a valid heart rate to be calculated. If the heart rate cannot be determined, (--) will be displayed.
M-Mode Measurement
Turning on M-Mode will allow for the display of the motion mode spectrum, in which a manual heart rate measurement can be made.
Once a proper spectrum has been acquired, the generic heart rate measurement tool can be used to measure by placing 2 calipers on the spectrum. Similarly, the generic time measurement tool can be used to output time instead of frequency.
Pulsed Wave Doppler Measurement
Turning on Pulsed Wave Doppler Mode (requires a valid software license) will allow for the display of the spectral Doppler spectrum, in which a manual heart rate measurement can be made.
Once a proper spectrum has been acquired, the generic heart rate measurement tool can be used to measure by placing 2 calipers on the spectrum. Similarly, the generic time measurement tool can be used to output time instead of frequency.
